Jurriaan Hamelynck, Managing Director
Jurriaan studied at the Hotel School in The Hague, The Netherlands and has years of experience working in the hospitality business. He ticked every single box all over the world and felt it was time to start his own company. A business respecting his vision on how he would like to spend his holidays; staying at small-sized catered locations offering top quality service which goes hand in hand with a laidback luxurious and feel at home atmosphere. Together with his brother in law and friend, Pascal Steenhuis, he started Small Wonders with his limitless passion to create an intimate and creative catered holiday always in mind.
Jurriaan’s responsibilities go a long way. Running all aspects of the daily operations and ensuring everything runs smoothly Jurriaan is unendingly calm and ensures our season runs like clockwork. Working mostly in the office, Jurriaan fully enjoys to pop-into our chalets and share the Small Wonders Experience with our guests and his colleagues.
Pascal Steenhuis, Managing Director
Passionate about nature, authentic produce and human interest, Pascal loves every single aspect of operating a creative, small-sized holiday company. Since the establishment of Small Wonders in 2010, he has been focused on continually improving, developing and delivering the perfect Small Wonders ski holiday. Pascal has also relished turning Small Wonders into a brand synonymous with reassuring quality, and is looking forward to introducing further unique and guest-led products over the next few years.
Spending the last 12 years in the French Alps, he now lives with his lovely wife and four children in the South of France, where his passion for wine, fine dining and windsurfing comes perfectly combined. From May 2015, he runs Domaine de Biar on a daily basis.
Victor Brouwer, Financial Director
Pascal and Victor go back 25 years of friendship; good times, bad times, they have seen it all. After a year of getting to know the company and its people, Victor integrated smoothly into the financial operations of the company. Due to the dynamic and positively ambitious atmosphere at Small Wonders, Victor enjoys every single minute of running this catered travel company
Victor is our ’Gatekeeper’, he suits the description quite nicely. He prevents Small Wonders of making weird financial decisions, which are caused by the enthusiasm of the rest of the team. During our most recent Management Team session, we described ourselves as cowboys; Victor is the old and wise one and leads the company to save and sound financial grounds.
His love for the mountains comes in handy, while Small Wonders can count on his regular presence in one of the catered ski chalets. With his financial and psychological skills as a basis for our business development, we do think that Small Wonders is heading towards a bright and joyful future!
Alice Alexeline, Guest Relations and Sales Manager
Having lived for most of her life In France, Alice loves the gastronomical part of the French culture in particular; sumptuous dinners served with fabulous wines, shared in great company! She enjoyed travelling and working abroad, but when Alice had the opportunity to join Small Wonders in 2011 as executive chef, it was too good an opportunity to miss. She amazed our guests with simple regional cuisine enthusing the senses with subtle flavours, creative flair and delicate finesse.
Alice moved to a new role as Guest Relations and Sales manager in 2014 when there was a need for a dedicated Guest Relations staff member. Her studies at the University of Calais (Master Degree in Tourism development) and her experience as Guest Relations manager at the Holland America Line, come extremely useful. Her professionalism, accuracy and her provided exceptional service make her a highly valued colleague. Alice knows that every good company begins by meeting a customer need. That need is deeply understood by Alice and she instantly sees when this need is not being well met. As our Guest Relations and Sales manager, she ensures that guests’ needs are at the fore-front of all staff minds.
Jeroen Steentjes, Executive chef and Operations Manager
Talking about a proper job experience, Jeroen has been working in hotel-restaurants for the last 16 years. His knowledge of food preparation goes far beyond French restaurant standards.
Small Wonders is ready to take it’s guest dining experience to an exciting and even more locally sourced level, therefore the team is very happy to have Jeroen’s passion for gastronomy and – in particular – seasonal cuisine on board! Preparation, presentation, and service should be second to none. He is the Executive Chef at our catered ski chalets, head chef of Eden’s Kitchen (Small Wonders restaurant in Sainte Foy Tarentaise) and works closely together with our very talented chefs at Domaine de Biar and Casale Cardini.
When dining at our catered chalet’s or Eden’s Kitchen, Jeroen makes sure that you will enjoy simple regional cuisine enthusing the senses with subtle flavors, creative flair and delicate finesse. His vision, work ethic and skills make him a highly appreciated colleague. Welcome on board, Chef Jeroen!
