The tiny village of Sainte Foy high in the French Alps may only be a stone’s throw from one of the world’s classic ski resorts at Val d’Isère, but it is rapidly gaining a reputation as an oasis of peace and tranquillity which also offers direct access to some of the finest off-piste skiing in Europe… The off-piste possibilities are legendary, with some slopes capable of taking skiers through their first gentle turns in virgin snow and others offering some of the most testing extreme adventure.
There are currently 41 km of piste and with 2 green, 7 blue, 11 red and 4 black runs in Sainte Foy, not to mention the vast expanse of off-piste and secret forest trails and runs, there really is something for everyone in snowy Sainte Foy. Plus, no matter where in Sainte Foy you venture ski runs all lead to easy meeting points.
Beginners have the luxury of two wide, gentle nursery slopes just metres away from the resort centre and Chalet White Eden. It is free of charge to use the nursery slopes and the two ‘magic carpets’ (slow-moving conveyor belts which transport you to the top of the nursery slope) that service them.
Learn to ski without having to buy a ski lift pass until you’re confident enough to take the first chair lift up to another nursery slope and your first green run. Enjoy the beautiful, constant run with no hidden surprises that gently leads you back to the nursery slopes and the centre of the resort.
For those who are more confident skiers and snowboarders, Sainte Foy offers an excellent choice of runs with which to continue your progress. The long blue runs are ideal for improving wide carve turns whilst the steeper, more technical red runs are excellent for practicing tight turns and for controlling speed. Sainte Foy provides plenty of snow-covered area on which to practice, improve, have fun and explore!
Sainte Foy is also situated at the centre of an Alpine ski mecca. Make the most of our ideal position by using our ski safari service to visit other well-known resorts.
For Experts and Off-Piste Enthusiasts
Sainte Foy is famous for its off-piste. It’s the resort where ski instructors and guides go on their day off. Skiers, boarders and telemarkers alike will revel in the powder just metres from the piste or amongst the trees, which lasts for days thanks to its north-west facing slopes. For those who are willing to hike or ski tour from the top lift, there are various breath taking off-piste routes offering huge vertical descents.
The ungroomed black runs of ‘Crystal Dark’, ‘Morion’, and ‘Crêt Serru du Haut’ are steep descents, often with moguls, requiring off-piste knowledge or an off-piste guide.
Sainte Foy Family Skiing: Sainte Foy and Chalet White Eden offer fantastic facilities for families. The nursery slopes are situated within the resort, just a short distance from your accommodation. When your little ones are ready to make their first journeys onto the beginners pistes, it is worth bearing in mind that under 7’s can use the chair lifts for free.
If your toddlers are too young for the slopes, or if you simply want some adult ski time, then excellent childcare is on hand with our private nanny service.
